Can i make my internet speed faster?

I just got hooked up with a 10 mb per second connection by at&t. I just wanna know is there anything i could so on my pc to make my internet speed higher. Perhaps instead of the original 10 mb per second, can i somehow get 20 mb per second? My computer is a pentium 4 windows xp home edition.

  1. a good way to increase your bandwidth (only works on some computers) is to do this:

    1) Go to your network connections

    2) Click on your LAN slot and click on 'properties'

    3) Click on 'configure'

    4) Click on the 'advanced' tab

    5) Look for Speed/Duplex (some network cards don't offer this option if this is the case you can't do this)

    6) Change value to 100MB Full Duplex, if you can't connect afterwards try 100MB Half Duplex, if that doesn't work 10MB Full Duplex, if that doesn't work then just keep it on auto


  2. You can't get more bandwidth than what you pay for. It MAY be possible but it's probably not legal and DEFINITELY against AT&T's rules, they will ban you for life if they catch you trying.

    The only thing you can do is use your bandwidth to it's full potential.

    Try using TCP optimizer:

    and run some speed tests at

    After you run a few tests, take your average speed and follow the guide to tweak your system settings.
