  1. As a child, you cannot open a bank account on your own without two forms of ID and the help of an adult who also had two forms of ID.

  2. You need to be 18 if you want one now you need someone 18 or older to help you!

  3. My children and grandchildren have had accounts at WAMU for years and always been satisfied.  Contact them and ask if they waive account minimums for minors.  You want a free account (savings) with no fees.  You will probably be limited to how many times per month or quarter (3 months) you can make a withdrawal so find that out in advance.

Good luck to you.  You are asking intelligent questions.

  4. A FEW DAYS AGO I GOT THE CHASE HIGH SCHOOL CHECKING ACCOUNT FOR THOSE 13-17. IT IS LINKED TO A PARENTS ACCOUNT. MY PACKAGE COMES WITH A VISA CHECK CARD. THERE ARE NO SERVICE FEES. ALL THE RULES APPLY WITH THIS ACCOUNT EXCEPT IF YOU OVERDRAFT IT IS TAKEN FROM YOUR PARENTS. SO BE CAREFUL. IT CONVERTS TO A FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT WHEN YOU TURN 19.
