  1. dsoc is right, you can open an account in the UK with the AIB, or the Bank of Ireland.

  2. Why not set up an account in a Bank that has a branch network in Ireland. First Active is part of the Allied Irish Banks Group, Halifax have branches in Ireland.

This will mean that you can then transfer the account to an Irish branch when you move, and you will have a credit history with the Bank.

It may even be possible to  open a Euro acount.

You could also contact a bank in Ireland about getting an Overseas account.

  3. No chance without some utility bills addressed to Ireland

  4. Give Ray Burke a ring. He'll help you out.

  5. I live in Northern Ireland but when I got a job in the Republic and needed to open a bank account I had a bit of trouble as I needed an address and utility bill addressed to me.  The problem was I was renting a granny flat at someones house and all bills were included.  Took all kinds of letters to be signed by my employer before I could get over that hurdle.  I think Ulster Bank is affiliated to the Nat West so you could go in there and ask them for advice.

  6. hi you

yes you can open a bank account over here in Ireland no problem and i see where you coming from and think you have a very good idea i am not to sure of the in`s and out`s of it here in Ireland but before you do open an account here for all the right reasons you mite what to check the Tax laws over there in the UK it would be class as an offshore account and you could mite have to pay a lot of tax in the UK if they find out about it

  7. you would need an address in ireland. anyway, it will look good to them even to see good uk bank records, thats enough. set up a separate savings accounts while still in the uk so you can build up funds and transfer the funds then
