  1. You can hold multiple accounts anywhere you like.  My original accounts are back East (Checking and Savings) but since relocating to a Western American state, I find it faster and often more convenient to use a local account and avoid the interest charges of a credit card.

  2. Yes, you can have several accounts.

However, one poster said you could have as many as you want, but I'd advise against that. After September 11, the government tightened up security and one thing they look more closely for is evidence of money laundering. Having many accounts (I mean many, not just a few) is apparently considered possible money laundering.

  3. of course

  4. ~~You can have as many accounts at as many different banks as you have money to keep in them.  I'd suggest picking the branch closest to your home or office for your main branch, but of course almost all business can be done at any branch.~~

  5. I was able to open a checking account at Bank of America when I already had checking accounts at three other banks.  However, I later closed it, because Bank of America did not given me the promotional credit that when they promised and charged me fees that they said that they would not.  Therefore, I recommend that you open your checking account elsewhere.

There is no limit to the number of banks at which you can have checking accounts.

  6. Yes, you can open accounts at as many banks as you wish.  Note that it's nice to build a relationship with your bank (if possible--sadly today's banks don't seem to think that's important and rely solely on credit ratings)
