Can i operate ac unit in room with window closed ?

Question

what will the effects be if i take my 5000 btu air conditioner out of the window and operate it in the room with window closed.

The room will get hotter actually, and you`ll have water in the floor.The hot air is exhausted outside, that is why the unit is placed in the window. Also, the water that is extracted from the inside air drains outside. The unit will try to cool the room if used inside, but the hot air (with the additional heat the compressor is generating) will just be exhausted back into the room. If you collect the water as it is extracted, you would see some de-humidifying take place, however.
