Can i play an HD DVD in a normal DVD player?

I bought an HD DVD off ebay because it wasnt listed as HD. I dont own an HD player so should i get rid of the DVD or can i still use it?

Nah, HD DVDs dead anyway they stopped em in may, you should buy a Blu Ray player or a playstation 3

No dude sorry but the formats do not match up. In order to play an hd dvd you need an hd dvd player. Unless you want to spend a couple hundred on a hd dvd player, that disc is just a disc to you.

If your DVD player has an HDMI connection you and you have a HDTV, then the HD DVD signal will be up-converted

No you cannot play it in a regular DVD player. I would get rid of it if your not going to use it. You must have a compatible player such as the add-on HD-DVD drive for the xbox 360 to play those movies. And i dont know why someone said you can play them on a PS3 becuase you cant, the PS3 only plays blu rays not HD-DVD. Sorry to give you the bad news, but dont waste your money on this dead product. If you want HD movies go with either an upscaling DVD player to make your old movies look better, or buy a blu ray player and start a new collection. Good luck.
