  1. That depends - are you on homebound education through a public school, like where a teacher comes to your house each week?  If you're homebound for health or disciplinary reasons, then probably not; if you're on independent study because your school offers it and it works better for you, then there's a good possibility.  You're still considered a student, and as far as I know the school still gets money from the state for you being enrolled, so I don't see a reason that you wouldn't be able to play.  You'd have to check with your school for specifics, though.

Each school makes its own rules and regulations regarding homeschooled and homebound kids, so that's difficult for us to answer.  However, if for whatever reason they won't allow it, there may be community basketball teams that you can participate on regardless of where you go to school.

    Hope that helps!

Edit - sorry, I think I misread your question.  Were you asking about playing on a homeschool team even though you're technically registered as a public school student?

I don't think there would be a problem with this.  I can't say for sure, not knowing what area you're in or the bylaws of the sports organization, but you are technically homeschooled.  My son plays in a homeschool league, as do many of his friends, and I haven't seen anything in the paperwork that would specify a method of homeschooling.  They just state that the student has to be homeschooled and has to abide by the rules of the team.

  2. If your moms lets you and if you have a basketball goal at home, you should be able to play basketball at home.

  3. sure if you want to

  4. do you mean can you play none on one? sure, if you want to learn the actual rules and skills in a team format, then you need to set it up with your local school or other group.

You can play youth sports at local city centers if you have a way to get there.

Here in Cal. many homeschoolers attend the local high schools to get the PE stuff done for both sports and social time.

  5. it is all up to you if you want to

  6. It might depend on the rules of the team or homeschool group you plan to play with.  Most are private organizations, and so have the right to set their policies about who plays and who doesn't.  I don't really see why they wouldn't welcome you though, just ask.

  7. Our homeschool league is for homeschoolers only.  There are several community leagues in our area where many homeschoolers play.  Our son plays in community leagues because the homeschool league involves more travel than we could afford in time and gas money.

We had a potential problem with community league this year with them questioning the homeschoolers who play in both homeschool and community league.   It was resolved because we have many in our league who play in other community leagues.

So... try your community leagues.   Great excercise and fun.

By the way, as a pro-homeschool plug here----scouts do come out and watch the homeschool league for potential players.
