Can i plug in my home phone and get a telephone connection from my computer if i plug it in the line port?

like. plug the line from the phone that normally comes from the wall, into the back of my computer instead and be able to use that phone normally as if it were plugged into the wall

  1. So youre just putting the computer inbetween the phone and the wall?  If you have a "phone out" on your computer, you can probably do that, but you probably don't.

  4. As long as your computer has a phone modem in it.

    Take a look, if what you plan to plug the phone into has two jacks (one beside the other) each with either 2 or 4 pins then yes (this is a phone modem).  If it only has 1 jack with 8 pins (or 2 jacks with 8 pins) then that is for a lan connection and you should not plug it in.

    If you have a a phone modem you will also need some software such as callclerk ( www.callclerk.com ) which I wrote.
