i have 2 kicker L7s which are 1000w rms each, can i use the orion-d5000 amp to power them? here are the amp specs;

5000W HCCA High Current Competition Class D Monoblock Amplifier

RMS Power Output:

4 Ohms: 1000 watts x 1 chan.

2 Ohms: 1600 watts x 1 chan.

1 Ohm: 2500 watts x 1 chan.

do i get them wired at 1 ohm? i understand the rms compatibility but what about the ohms? please help.

  1. For 2 dual 4 ohm subs, the wiring options are, 1, 4, or 16 ohms.

    For 2 dual 2 ohm subs, the wiring options are, .5, 2, or 8 ohms.

    If you have dual 4 ohm subs, at 1 ohm, you'll be over powering the subs by about 250 watts each.

    If you have dual 2 ohm subs, at 2 ohms, you'll be underpowering the subs by about 200 watts each.

    Either way, it's not going to be a big deal. Just make sure that you set the gains properly. In the case of the dual 4 ohm subs. Use the RMS of the subs to calculate the target output voltage of the amp. This will keep you at 2000 watts RMS. In the case of the dual 2 ohm subs. Use the RMS power of the amp at 2 ohms to calculate the target output voltage. This will keep the amp from clipping.

  2. yes and no     get two of these amps and run them bothhttp://www.cartronixplus.com/templates/d...     so at least with 2 amps you will get full power
