  1. that's fine.  I have a 1 gallon tank, and I usually have 2-3 fish (one inch at the biggest when fully grown) and they do just fine.  Mine just died recently, but they'd lived quite happily for at least 3 years.

  2. In a way, yes, and also no.

See, all tetras are schooling fish and like to be kept in groups of 4 or more.  You could get like a 2 gallon (filtered, and possibly heated) and get 4 that would be very happy.  1 or 2 wouldn't be too happy, but you could try.

  3. no they need 2 gallons each and a minimum school of 6

    nothing is suitable for agallon

  4. i wouldn't put any fish in a 1 gallon maybe some fry but than they must be transfered.

  5. Only one,  Two will fight

  6. I would wait until you had a bit more saved up. A one gallon tank is only good for a single betta.

  7. No. The rule is one gallon per one inch of fish. If you can't afford a bigger tank, then you won't be able to afford to change the filters or bulbs or even buy food.

  8. yes try it

  9. Fish are nearly the definition of:

"Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you *Should*."

Yes- you can put a fish or two in a one-gallon tank, but I'm not sure you or the fish will be happy with the arrangement.  And your fish will probably be short-lived; so you'd be constantly buying new fish (AKA- wasting your money).

I recommend save up your money for a 2.5- 5 gallon tank set up and a either a single betta or small school of neon's.  Trust me your money will be better spent.

    Good luck~
