  1. If your lens has a 58mm thread on it you'll be able to s***w in that converter. If not you'll need an adapter to go from whatever thread your lens is to 58mm. You can usually find out what thread your lens has by looking on the front. There will be a Phi symbol (circle with vertical line through it) and then a measurement in mm - that's your thread size.

Keep in mind that the glass on those converter lenses is generally pretty crappy so it may degrade your image quality. Only use it when you desperately need the extra range on the long end.

  2. Have you tried?

You need to give us a lot more information ... brand of zoom lens, brand of 2.0x telephoto lens and what you mean by a day and night filter.

The only filter you NEED is a UV to protect your lenses front element.

Is this the lens you are talking about?

TC-DC58C 58mm 2.0x Teleconverter Lens for Canon Powershot G7 Digital Camera - Converts the focal distance of the body lens to 420mm (2.0x) - at telephoto end when attached. Requires Converson Lens Adapter LA-DC58H to attach this lens to the PowerShot G7

    Or this one?
