Can i put a female guppy with a neon tetra fish?

so today i got my first fish wo0t! she is a female guppy, got the fantail thing goin on and stuff but anyways i want to get a neon tetra [looove the color] aswell, but dont know if they'd do fine together, for sure. the tank is kinda small, like a gallon or something maybe more...

  1. no 1 gallon could only hold 1 single guppy

    and neon tetras need to school with at least 6 of there ow kind

  3. You definatly need to get a bigger tank. But they should be fine together. I have a 20 gallon with 5 neon tetras and 5 guppies. For now I would just go with the guppy you have now.

    In a 10gal or bigger, yes you can keep them together.

  6. you need a bigger tank. i have a 20 gallon and have 3 neon tetras and i had a male and female guppy but the male died the day the female gave birth =[ they're community fish and get along together well. be careful if your guppy has babies get a baby keeper with a net, i have some clear plastic one but somehow the babies keep escaping! good luck with your fish

  7. Neon tetras require heat and good filtration.  If you just have a fish bowl, the tetra won't survive.
