I have bought a new car (e46 bmw 3series) and would like to know if it is ok for me to transfer my bought air filter from my vauxhall vectra saloon 1.6. to the new one. Will this damage or effect the performance of my car ?

  1. If by coincidence the air filter from a 1.6 Vectra happens to be the same size as the one fitted to an E46 320 then yes. Otherwise no. It simply will not fit inside the BMWs airbox.

If you're referring to an aftermarket filter then my advice would be not to bother even if it does fit. You may well reduce the performance of the car and if fitting aftermarket parts it is sensible on to buy bits designed for your car specifically.
