Can i put aspen bedding in my painted turtles basking area???

Only if you want all the shavings in the water by the next day.

I personally wouldn't. It's just going to get all wet and messy, and it'll stick to them and get all in the water. And since they only go to the bathroom in the water, it isn't necessary to use any type of bedding.

Basking areas should be logs, bark, plastic ramps, or something else that lets the turtle get out of the water to dry off- but still be over the water.

A 'dry area' with dirt, bedding, etc. is not a real good idea in most home set-ups.
