Can i put insurance on tools?

my dad has over $35.000 or more in tools for work that he has invested in for many years. can he insure them? and if yes where?

  1. He uses them for work, so they cannot be added on a homeowner policy. If he does not need a business insurance policy for work (he works for someone who has this covered) then he can get a "tool floater" called an Inland Marine policy.

    Should be about $1.00 or $1.50 per $100 of value. Call an independent insurance broker

  3. Yes if he stores them at home they can be added to his homeowners policy.

  4. He should definitely be able to get insurance for them through any insurance broker. That's probably too much to include on homeowner's or renter's insurance, though. He'll have to get a business policy.
