I want to put a little Eiffel tower in my Betta's tank cuz his name is Phillipe and he's french:-) but the only little Eiffel towers i've been able to find have been metal, is that ok to put in the tank with him? I've seen some sites that say it's ok and some that say it's not.....:-(

  1. Sorry, but metal is a bad idea.  Not only will it rust, it will introduce harmful chemicals.  I will search for a safe eiffel tower and update if I find one.

UPDATE: Sorry, I haven't had any luck.  The closest I've been able to find is too large by far.

This is the largest collection of decorations I've found so far.  They have other things you might want to consider, like a french styled castle.  I scared my niece laughing when I saw the floating mine decorations.

  2. Hi, never put anything metal in your tank-this is because it will very possibly either corrode/rust & alter the water chemistry or poison your fish or both. It may even become a potential hazard if there are any small gaps or sharp edges /points on it. How about putting a picture or drawing of the Eiffel Tower behind as a backscene to his tank? That way you keep the French element without putting Phillipe at risk!

  3. No...I am sorry..cos metal in water will rust and the chemicals released will ultimately kill the betta..not a good idea..not safe at all..

  4. It sucks, but I'd have to say no. The metals it's made out of could be harmful if they were to leach into the water which could definitely happen.

It's definitely safer to just keep it next to the tank. :)

  5. i don't think you should, because it will rust eventually
