Can i put my contacts in water?

i have run out of contact solution and am in a place where i cant buy any and will be here for a few days

  1. I would not recommend it. The contact lenses would absorb the water like a sponge. I linked you to an article on making your own saline, but please heed the cautions in the article. Make sure to boil it to kill any bacteria and store it in a sterile container.


  2. I personally think you shouldn't because there can be bad bacteria in the water and it can contaminate your lens and might give your eyes an infection

  3. It is better than letting them dry out, if they are long-life lenses.

    ***But in no way can lenses that have been put in water be worn*** until they have had 48 hours soaking on a proper salinity-balanced disinfecting solution.

    They will be the wrong size, they will cause waterlogging of the cornea (oedema) if worn, and they will not be sterile.
