  1. Never mix different species of retiles in the same tank. This is a sure way for fights to break out. It's already hard enough to house the same species of reptilians in the same tank. I had two Iguanas that use to fight each other all the time. During the day they were fine but during  the night I was constantly woke up to my Iguana thrashing my brother Iguana into the wall of the enclosure we had to seperate them.

My red tail boa was housed with two ball pythons they lived together fine (A lot of people would disagree with this).

Housing different species of reptiles really depends on the animal mentallity 80% and 20% on tank size. The bigger the tank the better.

But still it's 10 times better to just house the same species or don't do it at all.

  2. Reptiles are all solitary creatures.  At best they tolerate each other in social settings.  They are also generally territorial.

Besides the fact that two or more reptiles are bound to fight in a small enclosed space, when mixing species you run other risks that can be just as deadly.

One of these risks is that one of the reptiles may be a carrier of a disease.  They may be immune, but the other species might not be and die.

Also, too, remember that each species of reptile has different care requirements.  All geckos are not the same.  Mixing Leopard geckos and Crested geckos, for instance, would be a bad idea, because the environment the need is drastically different from each other.

Even within the same species, reptiles don't usually get along.  They have a need to establish territory and drive rivals away.  When there's nowhere for the rivals to go, the dominant reptile can intimidate them into behaving in a nervous, erratic manner, becoming dangerously lethargic,  or not eating or drinking.  The stress can literally kill them.

It's best to keep each reptile separate.

  3. absolutely not. ive seen it attempted. didnt work well

  4. They might fight. If you try it. The setup of where everything is in your current lizards habitat, move things around so your gecko thinks it's a different place. This will make it be less territorial. I suggest another leopard gecko. I did this before and they hissed and fought a little bit at first but after a couple hours they were fine together.

  5. never mix species of different animals because they will have stress lead to fights you'll have trouble getting good temps

i had to different lizards a house gecko an anole and the house gecko died from stress

  6. if they are both male it is a terrible idea. all male lizards are extremely teratorial and will kill each other. If you arent sure if they are male or female dont take any chances unless you are constantly watching them and keeping them happy.
