Can i put only one shirt in the dryer at a time?

One item at a time tends to wad or ball up and often will not dry evenly.  It is better to put a towel or something else in with it.  However, it's extremely wasteful of energy to run the dryer with just one item, and since shrinkage is due more to the type of fabric and the temperature you wash and dry at, running a full load with the item you want to shrink will likely not make it shrink any more or any less.
