  1. The only way this can be done is by monitoring the tank temperature.  Dollars will live happily in water that is 75 degrees and up while goldfish prefer under 75.  Keeping the water between 74-77 would have to be a must.

Also, silvers get to be about the same size as fancy goldfish around 6 inches.  Once these fish all become full grown there would be no room in the tank.  I would suggest not housing all these fish in a 17 gallon for very long.  They are all small now, but won't be for very long.  Sorry

  2. gold fish are fresh water

    silver dollars are salt water

    sorry but no

you could put 12-15 SMALL fish in a 17 gallon tank

  3. Really, if you want silver dollars you should do lots of research, they need special conditions, compatibility with other fish, water conditions etc etc,  I would NEVER put these 2 fish together for many many reasons ie goldfish are coldwater, silver dollars need heated water, and at least a 30g tank.  BTW, silver dollars and gold fish can grow quite big and definitely DON'T go together.

Please please do some research on both goldfish and silver dollars... Silver Dollars are very special and need to be cared for...

  4. silver dollars are tropical not saltwater. goldfish are cold water. 3 goldfish need a 45g tank. Comets need 55g each. See what you have.

  5. nope not advisable to put them together 2 goldfish

    kOi keeper & goldfish keeper

  6. first off can you yes should you no goldfish and tropical fish should not be mixed

and your 3 gold fish are small right now but they will out grow the tank just one should be in a 20 gallon

  7. Nope. The goldfish need cool water and the silver dollars need heated water.

The number of fish that you can have in your tank depends on the adult size of the fish, not the size they are now.  For instance, your goldfish can grow to be 18"-24", so your tank is too small for even a single goldfish.

You could have 12-15 guppies, or neon tetras, but only one gourami. It all depends on the adult size and the amount of waste (bio-load) that breed eliminates.
