Can i put tape in my hamsters cage?

i want to make a toy for my hamster but i dont know if it will eat the tape and if it does will it harm it?

Tape is a bad idea.  Hamsters are very curious and will thus try eating the tape.  The glue in the tape can be toxic for them, resulting in death, perhaps prolonged and painful.  I would no put tape of any kind in the cage.

If you want to make a toy, carve a piece of safe wood or build him a utopia out of toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, cereal boxes, and tissue boxes (with the plastic insert removed).

They probably will nibble at the tape since my hamsters when I had them would chew and nibble at most evrything to shred it up and put in their den.  I think if you use the narrow half or three quarter inch paper masking type tape it shoudnt hurt them since its just paper (cellulose fiber) and a very little bit of adhesive.  Try it and if they seem to chew at it excessivly take it out if it concerns you.  BTW, all my hamsters LOVED bird toys with the mirrors and little tinkly bells and beads so that may be a good alternative too.  Good luck hope that helps.

NEVER Put anything like tape in your hamsters cage your best bet is to buy treats and toys from a pet store those are safe and will not harm your little guy

What a lucky hamster, to have someone think about its entertainment. I don't think tape is a safe object for hamsters. They eat everything in sight in collecting nest-building materials. Health problems could result (possibly, getting stuck in its cheeks while nesting). It's best to stick to pet store toys approved for hamsters.

I wouldn't do it -- hamsters chew everything and sometimes they happen to swallow some of the things they chew.  You don't want your hamster swallowing tape!

No, dont use tape. Your hamster will probably try to eat it or may even get stuck to it! The glue on the back of the tape which makes it sticky will poison your pet making it either ill, or die. And if your hamster were to get stuck to the tape it would become very hostile, making it hard to release the little ham ham.

Instead why dont u try giving it a roll of toilet paper. Your hammie will love it and stred the paper so it can sleep in it and play in the toilet paper roll. Or perhaps in you have sum wooden blocks you could make a little maze for the little critter with somesort of treat at the end.

Have fun, but no tape. lol. =]
