I am building a box that holds two 12" subs with out dividing them. I was wondering if this would cause one of the subs to blow up or something.

  1. yep...if the box is sealed, then you should divide them.

if the box is ported, there is no need to.

  2. as a porfessional box builder it's a good idea to divide a box mostly for structure tolerance reasons. sure there are other things to consider like one of the subs blowing up when not dividing a box. but keeping a box undivided ensures even enclosure volumes for both subs. however the subs must be the same brand/model blah blah and if one does blow the other will go shortly after. with a divided box you'd have a little better chance with the good sub before it blows. the only way a single chamber could harm your woofers before a dual chamber is if it's not sturdy enough.

  3. yes. just flip one the other way. so that means that your going to see the front of one and the magnet of the other. im a profresno.

  4. No it won't blow up. However if one sub fails, the other sub will be affected because now the internal volume of the box has effectively doubled and it may bottom out.  It is good practice to use a divider..

  5. Only if it has alot of room for the other, otherwise no.
