ok, i am a video game lover, this stuff is my passion. everyday i play video games for about 8-10 hours. and when I'm in school, i only get like 3 hours of sleep because I'm up playing all night. my parents tell me that why don't i go outside or drive over my friends house or just go get some fresh air. I'm about to start my Senior year in high school and i do fine in school, I'm not a bad student so i don't see whats so wrong about me playing alot. one time i fell asleep in school and i was sent to the counselor. i told her that i fell asleep because I'm up late playing and she told me that i had an addiction which i thought was ridiculous. what do you guys think, can i actually be addicted?

  1. Well you sound like you spend a long time playing, and 3 hours of sleep is clearly not enough (hence the falling asleep).  I'd try cutting back to 6 hours, then 5 and then 4.  I think 3 hours a day of playing video games is plenty.  If you love video games so much then you should be a game developer. You probably have a lot of great ideas from playing so many different games.

  2. you have to mix up with friends , have to play  outdoor games and do your homework  and I'm sure you will get better and at least you have to sleep 7 hours  , make a limit for games (maximum one hour) otherwise if u keep going like this your work efficiency will reduce or lost  and you will feel tired all the time like me.

  3. (>__>) i know tons and tons and TONS of people who stay up late playing video games....including me

is it an addiction? who cares.....

    video games are fun

  4. YES! You're obviously addicted when you can't pull yourself away from the machine. You get an altered sense of reality when you play the same way people do when on drugs.

  5. no its technically not an addiction it is just a bad habit.  You should stop though because only having 3 hours of sleep is extremely unhealthy and not socializing isn't good either.

  6. Technically anything that releases endorphins and is enjoyable can be addicting.

  7. world might end soon for all you know... better live every day like its your last before its too late. If that means playing more video games, fine.

  8. Its more of a compulsion.  If it doesn't negatively affect your life, then its no problem.  You may not see negative consequences now, but high school is easy.  3 hours of sleep is hard to live on after that when life gets busier.  And I hope you're not losing friends because of the time you spend with the games.

  9. video game addiction is true and very serious. When you say that you do fine in school do you just mean grade wise? How many friends do you have if not many maybe you should do a little self make over. Get in a relationship with a girl that you like, start working out, GET A JOB.

Those things will help you lose interest in video games, I had the same problem I would stay up alnight and play halo, I was really fat and loser like. One day I just decided to lose fat which led me to becoming ripped and getting serious about exercise. Because of these things I completely lost interest in playing video games.
