Can i receive unemployment?

So this week my employer shut down work for a full week...its a daycare and she isnt paying us!...any other daycare that i worked at, we were paid for the week shut down....also sick time, holiday pay and vacation pay too....however..i have been with this employer for a year and a half and she doesnt offer sick time pay holiday pay or vacation pay...and we ar enot getting pay for the week they are shut down...so would i be able to receive unemployment for this one week?

  1. There's a delay and generally you can't get it for a single week, but try it.  You can apply online in most states right now.  And a bonus, it will annoy your employer as it would be charged against them if you get a week's pay.

  2. There's a "waiting week" for unemployment, so no you won't get it for being off just one week.

  3. Yes you can. Go and apply for the unemployment and see if you get approve or not.

  4. as the previous poster said there is a waiting week .. which means you should open a claim for that week but your not gonna get paid for it.. but if this happens again in the future ( within one year of you claim opening) you will be able to reopen your claim and get paid... also if you get reduced hours  (working less than your normal hours) you may be able to get partial unemployment depending on  your income for that week .. once you open your claim it will tell you how much you can make a week and stil get  a partial check.
