cds are for recording stuff on cpus so they would be much smaller than required and they would probably not record the sound dont be lazy if your recording on a good dvd use a good new recordable dvd rom becuase if you dont your dvd can break but if you want to risk it which i reackon u shouldnt then go ahead but dont say i didnt warn u when ur dvd breaks!

If you have a media center tv maybe. But I had a computer with windows media center, and input coax for cable or a video camera. You can then burn it to a cd or dvd. The cd or dvd, however, cannot be played on another computer, nor on a dvd player. And even though I recorded home movies on my media center computer, it is figuired for copy right infringment purposes. In-other-words, then you can't play the cd or dvd burned on a media center computer to play on any other pc or dvd player. If you asked me, that stinks!I wasn't infringing copy right laws  making home movies from video to dvd to play on my dvd player to watch on my tv.
