Can i recycle plastic hangers?

Question

I went through my closet today and found a bunch of hangers I'll never need. I put the wire ones up on freecycle in case somebody wants them, otherwise I'll bring them to the dry cleaner or scrap metal place. I accumulated a bunch of crappy plastic ones nobody would want. Can I put them out with plastic recyclables? Also I have a ton of plastic bags to recycle. Can I put it all out together? I live in NY if that affects the answer.

Goodwill or the Salvation Army will gladly receive plastic hangers and as for the plastic bags, if you are lucky enough to have a hot yoga studio in your area, they will gladly take the plastic bags off your hands.

Place the hangers in your bin...and put the bags in the grocery store return bin. You have to take all paper out before you recycle the bags. Bless your sweet and loving heart!

I save my Plastic bags for the different  Thrift Stores in our town. They are always happy to receive the bags. And keeps them out of land fill for awhile longer.

Sure.  Combine it together and take it to your local Wal-Mart.  They have drop off boxes at the front of the store for plastic bags.  They also recycle plastic hangers, so you can drop them off there as well.

The local library here using the plastic bags to bag patrons books in when checking out.  They can be stored, 15 at a time, in one of those empty decorative tissue boxes.  I also carry a box of them in my car for those times I forget to close the window and it rain, etc.

Check with your waste management company.  I doubt they will accept the hangers.  

Plastic bags are not recyclable, but most grocery stores will take them for you.

Do you have charity shops over there?

If so, maybe they can use the hangers to hang the clothes for sale on.

Also, most charity shops will take carrier bags as well.
