Can i refuse a replacement tv off my insurance and request a cheque?

i have been waiting a month for news on my claim and have been told to wait till they contact me. i have bought a new tv and would like to know where i stand when they try to give me a replacement

  1. i have never heard of them giving you a replacement.  they would pay you the acv of the tv you had.  if you have replacement cost on your property they will pay you replacement cost once you provide receipts showing you replaced it.

You didn't indicate what type of claim or what type of insurance.  Assuming a homeowners/renters type of insurance where there has been a burglary, fire or similar type of loss, the insurance company won't deliver a new TV to you.  They will ask you to replace it, which you have, and submit the receipt to them for reimbursement.  They will adjust the amount reimbursed based on like kind and quality and, of course, your deductible.
