  1. I own a registered paint. I honestly don't think so but don't know for sure. Go to the American Paint Horse Association and ask them.

  2. You cant register him APHA you can register pinto through the pinto association.

  3. Nope you can't register him as a "Paint" with the APHA, but, you can with the Pinto Horse Association, because he's got "colour"...

There's a couple for you to check into.

  4. I believe you need to have all the papers etc.

Im pretty sure you have to know the parents too and maybe have some background on them. You'll never know unless you try though, you could try and email or call the american paint horse registry and find out though!

  5. I don't think you can register any horse without having the registration information from both parents.  I have two paint horses but we got papers with them when we got both of them at around 6 months old a few years back.

We did have two black horses that were were both out of the same paint/pinto sire (he was dual registered). The filly had a pinto mom and the gelding had a quarter horse mom both registered. Neither one had enough color to be registered as a paint and because of the paint background we were told could not be registered as a quarter horse either.  They had short socks and a blaze up the forehead.  Like you said I don't know how you can register without the proper papers.  It sounds like the mare was not registered.  Without registration on both the sire and the mare I think it is impossible...

  6. no you cannot reg him with out his parents parents. That'ss were they get all of the history from you can possibly track them dow through thereregistryy number. They have a whole thing on there that will tell you how to do it at apha.com and you can also call on monday and see if they can help you.

  7. The American Paint Horse Association requires that Both parents be registered horses, and at least one has to be a registered paint or breeding stock paint.  The other parent can be a thoroughbred or Quarter Horse

The Pinto association, by contrast, usually allows a horse with an unknown parent to be registered as long as it meets the color requirements.  You will have to find out whether your horse has enough white to be considered for Pinto registration and you can find this out by writing or e-mailing the Pinto Horse Association.

  8. Yes the Pinto Horse Assoc. will register for his color rather than his pedigree.Contact Pinto Horse Association of America.
