Can i register my car without my pink slips,....?

Question

a person owned me money and couldn't pay so he gave me his car and the pink slips but i cant find the pink slips and i lost contact with him so i was wondering is there a way i can register the car at the DMV or something ?

Not unless you can get a copy.

If you would be able to locate him then you would be able to have the name changed on the title by having some other paperwork filled out, since you can't locate your friend then you have to get a bond. The way that you do this is you go to a small insurance agency and most of them would be able to help you out with this.
