Can i remarry again in india?

I am the citizen of newzealand, & i have applied for diavorce, which compleate two years next month & i am getting my dissolution certficate next month from newzealnd court, where as can i remarry again in india keeping this dissoultion certifcate ? will this dissolution cerrficate be valid in india?..& also what is the procedure to cancel my earler registration which was registerd earlier in india?

Yes the certified copy of the Divorce Certificate as you call it & Decree of Divorce as known in India has to be attached with the Notice of Marriage under the Special Marriage Act,1954 or at the time of registration of Marriage under the Hindu marriage Act,1955 if both parties are Hindus & married according to Hindu form of marriage in India. There is no procedure of cancellation of previous registration of marriage but the very fact the first marriage has been legally dissolved completely by a certificate or decree of divorce by a competent court of proper jurisdiction is sufficient to consider the previous marriage registration as cancelled.


  2. Do you want to marry again or remarry again? Whatever it might be, I find it horrible that you haven't learnt the proper lesson from your first one! Are you a great lover of pain and trouble?

  3. Submit the documents in the registrar's office concerned for Cacellation  of earlier one.After clearance u can go for Second marriage.
