  1. Yes you can remove your exhaust, it will make your car sound a lot more loud, and you might want to check if it's legal to run straight exhaust also, because I know here in Colorado it's illegal.

  2. You just can't remove your exhaust. The engine requires some backpressure to function properly. Besides , you couldn't stand the noise, and yes, it is illegal to remove your exhaust .

  3. dont do it. why would you want to? it's probably illegal in CA. but it would make your motorcycle look and sound g*y. leave it stock until you can afford a performance pipe.

it wouldnt hurt your bike mechanically, i dont think, but it might void your warrantee since its a brand new bike. in fact im willing to bet that it would void your warrantee.

if you are intent on having the sound of no muffler on your bike, drill a hole in the pipe on the engine side of the silencer.

also, since you asked this question i am assuming that you dont really have a brand new GSXR or probably a motorcycle at all. if you do its because you are an idiot with rich parents trying to look cool to the girls.

Those bikes have very cool looking exhausts. they are mounted low and are a cool triagular shape right? personally i would keep it stock. you wont be able to buy an exhaust that looks that cool. except if you did some custom under the seat exhaust. but thats expensive

  4. Straight exhaust removal is not a good idea.  Very unsafe, not to mention illegal.  You can run aftermarket pipes, though.  I have a set of Cobra Slashcuts on my Honda VTX13R.  Sounds nice, but not obnoxiously loud.  Oh, I am in SoCal, too.  Louder pipes can also be a bit safer because some folks will hear you and know you are there, but don't count on it.

    Good luck, and happy riding.

  5. There is no where in the US that no exhaust is legal.

  6. When the spark plug ignites the fuel, a small explosion takes place.

When the exhaust valve opens, the fuel is still exploding and a flame blows out of the exhaust port into the exhaust pipe.

Without the pipe, flames would be blowing out the front of your engine.

    A slight fire hazard.

The exhaust valves would burn, because of a lack of back pressure that would've been created by the exhaust pipe.

What your friends mean by "taking off the exhaust", is they are saying to change it.

Put an aftermarket exhaust on, or just a slip on muffler.

Stock mufflers look as big as a garbage can.

    Slip-ons are smaller in diameter.

  7. You CAN remove it, but will it be legal? No. The purpose of an exhuast it to filter out harmful fumes that a car emits and to reduce car and engine noise.
