Can i replace my car's electronic key with a regular key?

i lost one of my electronic keys to my chevy cobalt. i don't want to pay the $300 to replace it. can i simply make a copy of my other key onto a regular metal key? i can open the doors and trunk myself. will it work normally for doors and ignition?
