Is it possible to have six video cards running in one computer? Or would it be better to run three dual monitor video cards?

  1. Yes you can, but you will find it difficult to set up 6 monitors using graphics cards only. Mainly because unless you have a very specialised mainboard most will at best run four monitors from dual PCiX slots only, there were few AGP dual boards capable of running more than a dual monitor set up.

Your best bet is a Video Splitter, this is better from a System resourses point of view as well and particularly power throughput from the PSU. Not sure of your location but look at this webpage (its US based, I'm in Spain and these are available here, the UK and other Euro loactions) http://www.montest.com/vsplt-vga.html.

  2. Do you have 6 expansion slots? If so, then sure. But 3 dual-head cards would work also work.

  3. Sure, either by using 3 graphics cards that have 2 output connectors each, or by using video splitter... (depending on either you want to have the same picture on all screens, or have one picture divided on all of them)
