Can i sand my oil tank?

hey im sanding my oil tank to repaint it is that ok? or will it blow up and kill me?

  1. It will be ok! Oil has a high flash point so I wouldn't worry about it.

    The metal on your tank would have to be red hot before it would catch on fire.

    Make sure you leave one of the caps open or off so no pressure builds up in the tank.

  3. We used to use an oxyacetylene torch to cut fuel tanks off of trucks(cut the straps holding the tank). Just fill the tank up first! Only the fumes are flammable. I would NOT advise cutting a fuel tank but sanding you should be able to get away with.
