  1. It won't be covered by the warranty anymore. Whether they will fix it for a fee is another matter. Doubt it because if you stuffed the motherboard and they then accept to fix it the onus is on them. However they might do it and charge you £100 or so + p&p - about the same as a new console!

I guess your only option is to spend £5 and buy an 'x-clamp fix kit' off me. I sell them on Ebay.co.uk; a replacement for the x-clamps with the right sized bolts, washers and a sachet of thermal paste to replace the awful MS thermal pads + my repair guide is v good with lots of pics and is really easy to follow. This fixes the 3 red ring problem. and is a permanent fix that doesn't require any drilling.

Some people sell kits with nylon washers but they will work for 3 weeks and then the nylon expands and gives you the RROD again. My kits come with metal washers that don't expand. 1300+ people have fixed their xboxes with my kits.

Just look up XBOX_EXPERT on Community page of ebay.co.uk

  2. No they will not accept it, even if the unit isn't hacked or chipped to play modded games you can not send it in as you have voided your warranty by opening the unit.

You can try putting it in the regular case and see if they don't notice but it might not work, couldn't hurt to try though as they would just send the unit back un-repaired.

  3. the guy above jsut seems a little strange...

    well, anyways

    i don't understand

did u open up the xbox as in remove the silver microsoft sticker? if so, ur screwed

if not, as in u mean that u only changed the case, then maybe if u put the case back, they will repair for free

cuz they tell u to replace all faceplates with the original be4 u send it to them
