  1. you should invest in a slug barrel, just for the accuracy

  2. Rifled Slugs are meant for smooth bore barrels mainly. The rifled slug is made of lead and so if you shoot it through a rifled barrel the lead touching the rifling will cause some of the lead to peal off and can build up over a very short period of time. Also the facft that you are shooting a rifled slug through a rifled barrel would cause the bullet to become extremely unstable and inaccurate. Rifle barrel sare meant for sabot slugs (slugs with a plastic wad surrounding the outside). You should eb good though to shoot a rifled slug out of your barrel with a mod choke tube, but smooth bore deer barrels are ideal.

  3. Why do idiots who obviously know nothing about firearms always offer such stupid answers???

You can shoot any rifled slug made today thru any choke in that 870, including a full choke if you had one. Slug manufacturers HAVE TO make their slugs to fit ANY barrel choke or they would injured hunters. Use your common sense on this one!!!

  4. I'd get a real slug barrel or find an Improved Cylinder choke tube. I wouldn't shoot a slug in a modified, not sure what would happen.

  5. Modified is the tightest choke recommended for rifled slugs shooting.

  6. If you shoot a slug through the modified choke you will blow the choke out of the gun probabaly and flatten the threads. If it doesn't blow out, your barrel may expand on the end and you won't be able to remove the choke tube.
