Can i shutdown a pc on a network with going through alot of stuff i did one through cmd but it had graphics?

i have a acer 2315 vista home basic and athe one wanting to shutdown was built has an and running windows xp home edition

Well the shutdown command can be used but really won't turn off the computer it only shutsdown windows.  Here is a good article on it.. http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shutcut.php

You will have to setup the systems it is not a native process!
