to use with a scanner and CB radio? one antenna on the car is bad enough, two would look horrible, i dont like the "through glass" antennas, so i thought of splitting it...

i know i would need a BNC to CB adapter on the scanner side, but will it mess something up ?

  1. Yes you can.  But the length of antenna affect the frequency at which they work at.  So the CB antenna will work to scan at CB frequency.

    Good Luck...

  2. No. Splitting the coax on your antenna will raise your SWR (standing wave ratio) too high. This will burn out your CB on long transmissions, and affect your reception. What you can do, however, is split off your stereo antenna. Since you're not transmitting anything through your stereo antenna, it's only for receive, coax specs aren't critical.
