Can i start dance at age 16?

Question

I'm 16 and always wanted to dance and never got the chance. Now that i'm older i can pay for it, but would i really be able to become great at it like someone who started when they were 3?

yes you can start now.  and if u commit to it, you can become great.  but i wouldn't start out with tons of dancing, like all day every day... i would start by just doing a little bit.  if you start out with way too much, you will get tired and not want to do it.  so just work your way up.

ya sure start at a beginners class and keep at it dont give up and who knows maybe u could b a complete natural

At 16 , and the fact you are CHOOSING to take dance then id say yes definitely , someone who is taken to learn dance by their parents at age 3 will not have the same enthusiasm as someone who opts to start themselves.

As long as you enter it with the correct mind set and put in as much dedication as you can , Then yes , you could very easily.

of course. I am 15 and i just started irish dancing after many years of wanting to learn. I love it! My first feis is tomorrow and ID is my new favorite sport.  I'm so glad I just did what I wanted and didn't listen to people who said I was too old because I have found something I truly love. This has been the first sport I have not only started completely by myself but also the first sport I have started and truly enjoyed.  I hope you will love dance as much as I do, no matter how old you are.

dancing is not easy. i started at age 10. i am 13 and still just average and my dance teacher said i learn fast. but if you work hard you can achieve anything

Yeah, of course you can start. You might want to take a class, though. Classes help you learn more stretches, make new friends, and new dance moves and routines.

To me, dancing is more about skill and dedication less than age.
