  1. It is a great idea.  My son did it and had no problem transferring in state.  I know you want to move from TX to VA, but most credits should transfer.  Ask the community college academic counselor about the transfer of credits.

Beware of high out-of-state tuitions at many colleges in VA.

  2. You go two years at the CC and get your Associate Degree. You apply to the four year college of your choice and the CC sends your transcripts to them. Most application cost $20-60. CC should not charge to send your transcripts

My son went to CC in IL and is now at a college in TN.

The money part? not sure what you mean. CC is going to have a lower tuition.

  3. yes..it think its a wise decision.. its what i did and i actually finished college in 4 years. i took all my general education and transfer units at a community college (make sure you finish your major prerequisites also) and then i transfered to a university. the transition was great. if i would have gone straight to a university after high school, i wouldn't have gotten use to the amount of homework and reading and assignments to do. Community college helped get prepared to the university system...also, i saved my parents alot of money.

talk to your counselor and tell them your plans and where you're planning to transfer. they usually have a list of classes that the VA wants you to take before transfering.

    goodluck

  4. That is a fantastic idea. Many college courses will transfer over from a community college to a 4 year university. Just be careful, as many classes will not transfer. Get with a counselor at your community college, and they will be able to help you the most. Tell them where you plan to transfer to, and the counselor will be able to provide you with a  list of classes that with transfer over with credits to the new school.

    Hope it helps.

  5. It all depends.  Some credits transfer to some places, and some don't.  You have to talk to the enrollment people at both colleges to find out.

  6. most of the time you can transfer most or all of your credits - if you have schools in mind I would check before putting all the work in!

Good Luck - I just finished my Masters!!!

  7. yes, and it saves alot of money

  8. You should be able to.  People do it all the time to save money, and usually community college classes are a little easier.  To find out about credit transfer, you'll have to call the nursing school and find out what they accept.

As far as financial aid, either school should have a financial aid department that you can call and talk to that will help you with filing.

  9. yeah.

and theres no ideas to give because its really simple.

  10. 1. go to the website of the university you are thinking of transferring to.

    2. go to their admissions site

    3. look at the requirements for transfer students.  somewhere in here you should also be able to find info about what kind of credits actually transfer.

every college is different, so it isn't helpful to make broad statements about how transferring works.

typically though- if you go to a 2-year program and transfer into a 4-year one, as long as all of your credits transfer you will be able to finish with a BA within two years.

  11. no problem if the school is accredited. the school that you are transferring to may not accept all of your credits but it is a really good way to start

  12. yes you can do this..and it saves ALOT OF MONEY...if you start off with a juior college it will come out way cheaper than a 4 yr..and wen ur done u can transfer to a 4 yr and in the long run it will come out cheaper..just make sure you do good and keep ur grades up at the junior college so that wen u apply for the 4 yr ur chances are higher that you will be accepted..good luck

  13. Yes, if you are taking general education courses and check to see if they are the correct classes that you can transfer to the future college, especially if they are differant states.. Our state has a website to double check transferable credits

  14. yes

  15. Yes it is possible, just make sure to talk to your counselor and take classes that can be transfered, some classes cannot be transfered, your counselor should be able to help you more than anyone else, though. I'd go talk to him/her

  16. go to the community college and talk to a counselor, they may be able to tell you what the pre reqs. are for the nursing program in VA and help get you started on the right track.
