Can i still be a cop with a misdemeanor?

I got a misdemeanor for not appearing in court when i was 19 and i dont know if i can be a cop or not?

  1. That depends on your state, the need for officers, and the location you want to work, and the misdemeanor.  The only one I can say for certain is domestic assault.  If convicted you cannot carry a firearm and therefore cannot be an officer.  Otherwise, call the departments in your area and ask.

  3. Yes you can. But the police department may not accept you, or they will put another person that will be in line before you to enter the academy.
