My family moved to Spain when i was 13.

I left school at 15, went to Beauty college and now im a qualified hairdresser.

... But that isnt what i want to do.

Im an intelligent young girl, i love to read and write. Since i have lived in Spain for four years now, i am fluent in Spanish.

Id love to be a Middle School Literacy teacher… But since I left school at 15 I don’t have a GCSE to my name! (Only my NVQ L2 Hairdressing.)

Do I have ANY chance at achieving my dreams? (And before I reach 60+ LOL!)

Thanks!

  1. Yes! Go back to school

  2. Of course you can! Try online learning. I am on my second year at Phoenix University online and will get my Associate's on Criminal Justice in July. You save gas, you can keep a full-time job, and the loans allow you to pay after you graduate, for feasible monthly payments on a 10 year plan. The school will provide you a bank for a loan, I never even had to apply for the loan and risk being denied! You can do it!

  3. get your GED, or high school diploma.. and once you do that go 2 college follow your dreams cuz if u really want 2 be a teacher you'll be happier then being a hairstyles.. good luck.

  4. you need a college degree to teach in america.

  5. in the U.S. you need a 4 year college degree plus certification....

  6. yes you can get your GED or go back and fininsh high school then follow your dream of becoming a teacher. It will take some time but with patience you can acheive your dream.

  7. you have to go to school and get a degree to be a teacher

  8. Go to America, the stupidest country in the world.

You can go to college and get a degree there (based on other YA answerer's)

But as long as you don't have a criminal record and your fine with having a criminal background check, it's all good :)

    - Good Luck!

  9. simple go to college and study and get them. if you want something go for it dont give up till you get it. you will if you try.......

    good luck

    i hope it works out

  12. You are as young today as you ever will be, so get in gear and go back to school.  you will need to see what the requirements are in your state for teaching.  First, get your high school dipolma, then work on your BA.  YOu could also work part time as an aide in a classroom, once you have your high school diploma and pass a state test for instructional aides.  Do you want to be thinking about what you could have done five or ten years from now?  Go back to school NOW.  If you change your mind, your college degree can be used for other job possibilities./

  13. moew...

  14. Do I understand correctly that you never finished high school?  If that is the case, study for and take the GED test as soon as possible.  If you think that will be difficult, you could probably find a course at your school system's adult ed. building.  I know you can find a book at a bookstore to help you prepare.  Once you do that, apply to your local community college and start taking the courses necessary for an AA degree.  That can be finished in  of two years of classes, maybe even a little sooner if you go year-round and don't take summers off.  That's step one--so it's a two year goal.  After you complete your AA degree, finish your last two years at a university and earn a BA or BS degree.  Your goal now is a 4-5 year goal--that's doable, right?  I always feel like education is an endurance test.  You've just got to commit to the time.  That 4-5 years will pass whether you finish your education or not.  Take one road and four-five years later you'll still be cutting hair and wishing...take the other road, and four-five years later you'll be in your dream job!!  It's only TIME!

I taught high school for years and I'm not sure what you mean when you say Middle School Literacy.  I think your Spanish will come in handy, especially in certain locations.  Might I suggest that you minor or at least get certified in special education as well, assuming that it seems like something you might be interested in.  I suggest that because it's one of the few areas (math and science are two more) where you can pretty much guarantee that you will be hired by any school system at any time.  All other teaching positions can be harder to come by.  With a certification or minor in special ed., you could take that job once you graduate and get your foot in the door, and then it will be easier for you to slide into your "dream" position once you're already with the system.  Good luck!

  15. no you dont have a chance

  16. Try and see if there is a way of taking the courses you missed. and make sure you want it bad enough to but your self through 7 more years of school

  17. Only if you're willing to belong to the teacher's union and do what they tell you.

  18. Of course...never give up if you really want something!  Go back and get your GED (or high school diploma) then enroll in college classes.  It should take you about 2 years to finish your GED then you can get your BSE in education in about 4 years.  Good luck!  I think it's great that you're pursuing your dreams!
