Can i still connect a subwoofer too my headunit if i dont have a pre out or pre amp?

i have a subwoofer and car amp but the headunit (i dont think) will accept it.

anyone hav suggestions or knowledge?

  1. clueless guy is spot on. you can use the high-level input to wire it up, the one drawback is that the sound quality is not quite as good as it could be.


  2. yes, you can normally use your rear outputs and a crossover (to cut out the non-subwoofer frequencies) for your subwoofer input.  if your amp is specifically designed for subwoofers, then it may already have the crossover built in.

    in this setup, your inputs would be considered "speaker-level" (a.k.a. "high-level") inputs, so connect it to the appropriate input on your amp.
