  1. Yes, if you did not get stimulus rebate by filing your 2007 tax return.

For information on stimulus tax rebate read: http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/02/are-...

  2. The Stimulus check was only based on 2007 taxes not 2008.  The extra money was extra, a one time good deal.

  3. No.  Nothing you do with your 2008 return will get you a stimulus check.  It is all based on your 2007 tax return.

  4. It appears from your question that you were not eligible for a stimulus payment this year because you were a dependent on another return.

If you claim yourself for 2008 and have qualifying income, a stimulus payment will appear as a credit on your 2008 tax return.  If you had received a stimulus payment this year, it would be subtracted from the amount that appears on your 2008 tax return.

  5. If your parents claim you as a dependent, you will be ineligible for the rebate, but you may still benefit under the plan.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 status and income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, taxes would be cut in 2008 from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

So if you have taxable income in 2008, you will see a tax cut when you file in 2009.

  6. If you didn't file yet for 2007, then if you file by Oct 15 and qualify, yes you'll get a stimulus check  But if you already filed without claiming yourself, you can't amend your return to claim yourself and get a check.
