Well my family has switched insurances so i am no longer with kaiser permanente. My prescription is about 11 months old and i know that they are good for 2 years. Even though i am not with kaiser anymore, is it still possible for me to get a copy of my prescription, because i am in need of new glasses? Thanks in advance.

  1. You sure can.  Just call them up and ask for them to fax the prescription or call it into the optical company of your choice.

  2. If the prescription is still in date, most opticians will accept them. Some often have offers on if you bring in your prescription and purchase glasses from them.

I work at Specsavers myself, and we often get patients coming in with outside prescriptions. If they are in date we will use them. We're also happy to contact your previous optician and get your prescription faxed over. It's really simple, and you wouldn't have to a thing! Apart from give us your name of course :)

However, you say you need new glasses. Is it your vision or is it because you want/need new glasses as they are broken etc? If it's your vision I would recommend you have an up to date sight test.
