  1. Yes u can... My mother did it............

  2. usually if its not a complicated c-section the DR will do it at the same time. However, you should be able to get it done anytime after 6weeks after birth.

The procedure itself requires 2-3 "holes" for them to insert the scopes, then your tubes are cut, tied, burnt, however your doc does it. then a few stiches. They wake you up and then you go home.

  3. Yes, you can, however, you may want to opt for a less invasive procedure, if possible.  A tubal ligation requires an incision... whereas Essure doesn't, it's done via hysteroscopy through the cervix.  The recovery time is shorter and less painful than that of a tubal ligation.

With Essure, small spring coils are inserted into the fallopian tubes, causing scar tissue to eventually build up, therefore blocking the tubes -- therefore preventing pgcy.

For 3 months afterwards one must use a back-up form of birth control (hubby and I used condoms), then an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) is done, in which dye is via catheter up into the cervix while an x-ray is done to make sure that the tubes are blocked.

I had this done back in 12/04.

  4. That is all about lovely insurance companies...some will cover it during original surgery ( c-section) and others need a totally separate surgery and authorization.... too bad though, it is so much easier to do while you are on the table.
