  1. Absolutly!  Colleges are looking for a diverse student population and you sound like you have a lot of interest and are actively pursuing them!  I know that several starlets who were homeschooled and and ended up at great schools.  Natalie Portman went to an Ivy League school!  Follow your passion and when the time comes to apply to schools, make sure in your college essay you convey to them why homeschooling was such a good experience for you and point out all the opportunities that it allowed you!

Good luck with your career and college!

  2. There's nothing to stop you going to 'college' after being home educated your whole life. Universities are becoming much more flexible about the qualifications they ask for. You can safely ignore GCSEs and take A Levels or Pre-Us suitable for the course you want to study at Uni. Some places are even accepting Open University courses instead of As. In fact if your acting career is going well you might find that sticking with the OU is a good way forward as you can work for a degree around your other commitments.

  3. Of course! You can even apply to Harvard.  Best of luck to you.

  4. yes i live in the uk i'm 14 and i'm at collage as well has having home education.

  5. are you saying you're not going to do high school?

and yeah, you can go to college if you were home-schooled thru high-school, I am

  6. Of course you can.  A higher percentage of homeschool graduates attend college than public schoolers.  It sounds like you are wanting to homeschool so you can pursue your acting career which is great for you and your family.  However, if you are not being tutored or doing online school, just make sure you document your work and keep things together so you can send in portfolios to the colleges you will be applying to.  You will also be eligible for the same scholarships as other college students so make sure you talk to the financial aid office at every school you apply to so you will be aware of scholarships and their deadlines.  Last but not least, just keep in mind that homeschoolers are recruited by many colleges so in a way you have a better chance at getting into the school of your choice asa homeschooler than if you went to public school.  Good luck with your acting, work hard, get good grades, and remember, school comes first!

  7. Certainly you can. While going to something like an accredited online high school makes the transition easier, many, many homeschooled students go on to college.

If you are in 8th grade, you will want to keep track of what you learn and/or are taught. This will make it easier to prove knowledge (through a transcript you create or in some other manner).

  8. I'd maybe try and at least take some acting classes though community education or through your local community college.

You could also probably start some college level (accedemic) classes either online or at a community college.

Oh, and newsflash: College is SCHOOL.

  9. If you are home-schooled but take formal exams you can apply and be interviewed like anyone else. Would be more difficult without formal qualifications.

  10. Many colleges are actively recruiting homeschool graduates.  Those who are telling you otherwise are misinformed.  Many people *assume* that it will look bad because they have not done the research.

You will need to keep good records, and study HARD for the SAT and/or ACT test.  It would also be to your advantage to take some SAT subject tests or AP tests, especially in areas like foreign language.

Be sure to follow a college prep course of study, which should include 3-4 years of math (at least 1 year should be above Algebra 2), 4 years of English, 4 years of Science, 1 year of World History, 1 year of American History (assuming you are in the U.S.), 1/2 year of Government, 1/2 year of Economics, 1/2 year of Geography, 1/2 year of your state's history, and *at least* 2 years of the same foreign language, plus electives.

Keep track of it all and keep evidence of your work, such as tests, photographs of art projects, essays and research papers you've written, science lab sheets, etc.

When you apply you send the college a homeschool transcript which is signed by your parents in the presence of a notary public and notarized, then sealed and signed across the envelope seal by your parents.  You might also be asked to show a portfolio, which is why I suggested keeping evidence of your work.

With all of this is unlikely that colleges will ask for a GED, but if they do, you will be well prepared for it by taking all of the courses I mentioned.

  11. If your homeschooled by a guardian they should hand you state test and stuff like that. I'm pretty sure if you do all the state and country stuff and get good grades it's the same as going to highschool. Maybe check collage websites and requirements. And send the collage emails on homeschooling and if you can get in there.
