  1. When you become an egg donor, you have a risk of overstimulated ovaries that can become severe. This can result in a partial or complete hysterectomy.  You are foolish to donate eggs until you have your family complete.  I would not risk my reproductive health for a stranger under ANY circumstances.  One of my friends lost an ovary due to hyperstimulation while going through IVF for herself.  She would advise exactly the same thing.  It's one thing for a woman doing it for herself, another if you are doing it for someone else.

It is not as rare as people believe. Something like 5% of women have severe hyperstimulation.

  2. You will still be able to have kids if you donate 1 or 2 or 10 eggs.

Unlike men, who produce new sperm daily throughout most of their lifetime, women are born with all their eggs in one — okay, two baskets (ovaries). To be more precise, a woman is born with about one to two million immature eggs, or follicles, in her ovaries.

Throughout her life, the vast majority of follicles will die through a process known as atresia. Atresia begins at birth and continues throughout the course of the woman's reproductive life. When a woman reaches puberty and starts to menstruate, only about 400,000 follicles remain. With each menstrual cycle, a thousand follicles are lost and only one lucky little follicle will actually mature into an ovum (egg), which is released into the fallopian tube, kicking off ovulation. That means that of the one to two million follicles, only about 400 will ever mature.

  3. I'm no expert, but I take it that you release an egg each month, so one missing is not going to be a problem.

  4. Yeah, unless the procedure goes wrong, which doesn't happen often, there is nothing to stop you form having kids of your own.

  5. yah you have plenty
