im 14 and i want to try out for cheerleading next year.but im afraid that i won't make it because i can't tumble.i can only do a cartwheel.and i know that you have a better chance at making varsity if you can at least do a backhand spring.so i was wondering if i can still learn tumbling and is there a way to do it without taking classes.

  1. Youh are gonna have to take classes.

They usually have tumbling classes in dance schools

  2. stretch everyday so you are very flexible. Find a friend who is good at tumbling and spend the day with her helping you.

After I learned how to do a front flip, I learned other stuff fast. Try learning to do a handstand. You can start off by leaning your feet against a wall while doing a handstand.

To learn a front walkover, you have to push off with your arms like you are doing a handstand and swing your legs over. Keep your torso still, and let your legs fall over and your feet hit the ground.

To do a back walkover, you can start in a back bend or the landing position of a front walkover. Just push off one leg with a lot of power and swing your other leg up and keep pushing until you flip over.

Sorry, that probably confused you. I would suggest calling a friend to help you, or watch vidios on youtube.

    goodluck

  3. yeah u can still learn. i practice "backhandsprings" lol by doing a backbend then pushing off a wall.

ps don't do it close to anything that u can hit urself on. make sure you have enough push off so you don't land on ur head and hurt urself. i would know from experience lol. i got a bruise the size of a golf ball... oh and don't forget to put something squishy under u so u don't hurt urself if u do fall.

  4. trampoline thats wat my girl friend did, so go on youtube and watch a video on how to tumble and get sumone to help u (maybe a cheerleader at the school) and get on a trampoline or mat

  5. well try out. one of my friends cant even do a cartwheel and she is in advanced cheer.

  6. tumbling classes... your best bet would be at an all-star cheerleading gym... look online for one in your area... the only thing is you cant be afraid.... block out ALL scary thoughts and dont think about it... you seriously just have to go for it... building up your thigh and butt muscles helps A LOT! but your young... you'll catch on.... no lie it may take a couple of months.... just DONT GIVE UP!

    good luck with that :)
