Can i still travel from Mexico to the U.S. witho only my matricula consular and my U.S. resident card?

I am in mexico and i am a legal U.S. resident all i have is my U.S. resident card and my matricula consular from mexico is that all i need or do i need my mexican passport?

  1. Yes. My husband never needs his passport. Obviously, your Matricula Consular says that you are from Mexico. You just need your resident card. The passports going in to affect are only for proof of US citizenship - your resident card proves your residency. They must put the passport into affect because before US Citizens were able to get in with a US ID card and Birth Certificate - but these are easily available to anyone trying to get in illegally, therefore - the US passport. But not being a US citizen, all you need is your residence card.

If you have a Mexican passport carry it.  If you are flying , you MUST have a passport.  If you are traveling by LAND, you are not required to have a passport ujntil SUMMER of 2008, but if you  have one, carry it.  If you no longer have a Mexican passport ( and Mexico is your country of birth), you need to get a new one because you will need one after next summer.
